“Over the moon with the Cavalier”.

I read something on a PH thread about an Austin Maestro the other day. It reminded me of an old fly-on-the-wall documentary about company car drivers. I tracked it down to a BBC2 series called “A to B: tales of modern motoring”, which aired in 1993. I found a scruffy copy of it on YouTube and watched it through yesterday. It’s well worth a watch, even the full 48 minutes, so thought it worth sharing on here. I am sure many of you will have encountered blokes like this back in the day. The Maestro bit from 34:31 minutes is pure comedy gold.

My wife had a GL wagon when we met. She helped me do the timing belt once. She's now on her fourth Subie wagon, so she'll have to sit though this video. There's a companion youtube piece detailing the build and how Vermont Sports Cars strove to maintain the '80 theme.

I had a Capri (it was my first car). 

Only hard spot I ever found were the seats. The soft spot was in the suspension. 🙂

 

But then I never met the girl.
