Why can't the US put forward younger, more credible, candidates?

I do have a question for our US members. Can Obama stand again? Is the limit 2 terms full stop or 2 consecutive terms?

I'm very surprised he's not been jailed by now 😲

Too much monopoly money gives him a get out of jail card - or even a keep out of jail card. Such a nasty bloke.

We moan so much about UK politicians, on either side, but look at the choice in ‘Merica. A mentalist in Trump, or a senile coffin dodger who clearly is losing/has lost his marbles.

Out for a Blat or on the Allotment

I'll see your Trump and raise you a Herschel Walker. If you want to explore the mysteries of political belief and tribal loyalty, he's a perfect case of anyone but Them. How he can be neck and neck with an incumbent, given his seemingly toxic background, dishonesty, and poor speaking ability, is beyond me.

For a somewhat disturbing analysis of the effects of tribalism, and other factors, in the affairs of nations read this book:

Like much of popularised academia it tends to lay it on a bit thick but is still thought provoking,

He's the gift that keeps giving isn't he!!

Unfortunately, though I think Politicians should be prosecuted for things like this, surely inciting the attack on the capital building, Stealing confidential documents etc etc is more serious than this? And by prosecuting for this I think the Republicans are uniting behind him and it could get him re-elected! Thats my worry

Giving? No.  Yet again, he's leveraged this as a fundraising opportunity, allegedly to cover his legal costs.  Hordes of MAGA nutjobs are handing over their hard-earned to fund a billionaire.  And agreed, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

It's astounding to me how he constantly and brazenly conflates himself with the country or nation; if he is held accountable the nation is at risk!

And the GOP just lines up and enables with the line that "If this happens to him, it will happen to you!"  Umm, not unless you evade taxes, poke pornstars, cheat your business partners and wives, lie continuously, or attempt to subvert the democratic process. ( well TBH, that last is becoming a favorite for his whole party)

What you are missing is that he is raising money like crazy over this. He has raised over 8 million in one week from his base which is mostly lower income families. What these people keep missing is that he flies from Fl. to NY in a passenger jet, not a small private jet. The cost of flying this plane is not small. This is what amazes me that these people keep giving him money. Most of these families giving him money don't even make what it cost to fly this plane from Fl -<> NY -> Fl.

Later,
Eldon

We witness in this the epic capacity of humans for delusion. Been there, done that, the Germans in the '30's.

Hitler was jailed in 1923, sentenced to 5 years for an attempted coup, released early for whatever reason. Anyone believe history doesn't repeat?
