Nomination's for most awkward jobs on an Esprit

Just a bit of fun, What seemingly simple job turned out to be the most awkward, painful job you've ever done on your Esprit?  

Having just removed the dashboard binnacle cover on my GT3 to straighten the instruments, fit dash speakers and fix the clock, removal and replacement of the binnacle cover gets my vote. I took advice from a thread on this forum saying ' remove by turning anticlockwise, replace by turning clockwise, even so It took an age to figure out how to get it off without damaging it, the windscreen or the A pillar. Getting it back in was even harder, nearly an hour of getting it jammed against the A pillar, getting it jammed against the windscreen, cutting my forearms to shreds on the metal parts of the dash and just sitting and staring at it, wondering how the heck you are supposed to get it back in place.  It looks such a simple job but the air was decidedly blue in my garage by the time I eventually got it back in (luckily without scuffing or breaking anything on the car.)  I however now look like a self harmer 😂

PS, If someone now comes along with a simple, quick, pain free way of going about this task I'll........................🤬😂 😉

Pedal box bolts - specifically the left hand front bolt......

Anything on the engine as I always had bruised ribs from leaning hard on the buttresses & anything to do with the exhaust manifold has got to be up there with the worst. 🤬

For me it had to be removing the exhaust manifold with the engine in-situ. Replacing a fuel tank, water pump or timing belt are all a breeze compared to that job!

The one job I've found impossible so far is deciding to sell it.

Wiper linkage replacement  - two grown men almost reduced to tears. And that was with the dashboard out.

I was not thrilled with steering u-joints R&R. Repeatedly oscillating between under fender and full Lotus position, knowing I might have to do it again if it clocked wrong.

Other job candidates fully suppressed in memory, lest potential resale/replacement rear its ugly head 🙈🙉🙊

Getting the roof panel into the trunk. It's even worse than USB, you have to turn it around at least 8 times to find it only fits in the position you started from.

Fitting the front bumper stud plates in the nose of the body, the one in front of the headlamp pod bucket in particular.

More votes for pedal box, wiper motor/assembly and exhaust manifold insitu.  Also, heater matrix, rad pack on the ground on your own, S3 tanks, power steering rack, those suspension bolts that are concreted in.  Driver windscreen washer nozzle.  The short hose between inlet manifold and water pump on the 4-cyl.

I also really dislike doing a Dry Sump cambelt, annoying ballache.

And gluing up that fecking carpet after replacing the tank vent hoses.

I am afraid that you stated and i quote, " vaild until 29th October 2022" now I read that, as would any British court, that the statement is valid up to and including the 29th so you should have an interesting afternoon/evening watching Tracy, Uncle Ian and the Shanmiester drinking and enjoying themselves whilst you apply eyedrops every 2 hours

🤔 So basically any Job on an Esprit in general  😂😉

Simple simple jobs that were an absolute ballache;

Locating and replacing the inline fuse for the electric mirrors. 
replacing instrument and dash warning bulbs.

knew they were a pain but Jeez!

waterpump renewal (especially after doing 40 miles on an exchange unit and it failed )
